50 Things A Writer Shouldn't Do
The funny thing is, since we're talking about NaNoWriMo, most of those rules are to be discarded until the end of the month. Feel free to use them in December. Honestly, I find the lack of rules involved in NaNoWriMo to be awfully refreshing. That said, there's a few things I've learned from personal experience. They aren't rules, they're just things I've learned about my own writing process, and that's different for each person.

I wrote this because I needed to remind myself of a few things before I could forget them. That said, I'm going to be adding to this throughout November as I think of things that I want to remember about this crazy month long self discovery trip. The best part of any trip is all the things you see along the way. With that in mind, I can't wait to see what else this month has in store.

Okay, so I've been blissfully ignoring that it's October 31st, right? Well I no longer can. Mind you, it's not because it's Halloween, that's never been my style. I'm not gonna knock it if you like it, but I hate this holiday. I digress, that's not what's bugging me. Tomorrow's the beginning of NaNoWriMo, and yes, it's entirely likely that come midnight tonight, I'll be pounding away at the keyboard in the hopes of producing 50,000 words by the end of the month. Yes, I'm going to Chicago mid-month. No, I'm not planning on letting myself off the hook for those days. The craziest thing is that despite all the nerves and "omg I'm doomed!" going on right now, I'm seriously looking forward to this. Despite knowing that come December 1st, I'm going to want to sleep until New Years. Despite the fact that this month I'm going to consume an unnatural amount of coffee and forgo normal sleeping hours to get this thing written. Despite the fact that people will look on in mingled shock and amusement as I slave over a (hopefully not!) hot laptop. Crazy, what's that?
I'm gonna go squee now.
